Who We Are

St. Philip was organized as a congregation in 1965 and looks forward each year to renewing the mission with a specific focus on what God is calling us to do next.

In 2014, while we do our overall mission life and work, we are focusing on the “3 R’s: Refocus, Retool, Reengage”!

– Refocus:  Build on the foundation of Mission/Vision/Beliefs/Values.  Refocus on the foundation.
Project:  Core Values Formation.

-Retool:  Develop/Train leaders in key portion of our
“Functional Area” of mission:  helping people grow spiritually
and in spiritual practices.  Retool leaders.
Project:  Small Group Leader Training.

-Reengage:  Make new efforts in how St. Philip does ministry and mission with our Mt. Dora community and entire Tri-City area.  Reengage the community.
Project:  What’s Next in Worship and What’s Next in Education and Outreach

Our campus is located in Mt. Dora, Florida and the tri-city area of Mt. Dora, Tavares and Eustis serves as a focus as our local outreach and service.  Particular organizations with whom we partner and support in our area include Lake Cares, Golden Triangle YMCA, Hearts and Hands, Agape House, Triangle Elementary School and Lutheran Counseling Services.  We participate and partner with other faith traditions in the area through the Mt. Dora Ministerial Association network.  On a wider scale, we support the ELCA Global Mission, Panama Mission-Gamboa Union Ministries and Missionary Debbie Ward, and Lutheran Outdoor Ministries of Florida.

2012-12-24 19.36.48We are disciples of Jesus Christ committed to making more disciples of Jesus Christ.  We are the church of Christ in mission!  Our particular Lutheran theological heritage gives us a solid foundation in the grace of God to partner with others in the mission of God!
